Andy Murray

When Andy first appeared on the tennis scene he upset a lot of people – a lot of English people – by saying that he wasn’t “British”, just Scottish. This caused anger; and it took a long time, a little bit of humble pie and a lot of success, culminating in his Olympic Gold Medal in 2012 and victory in the US Open Championship a few weeks later before he was accepted by many English fans as “ours”!
